This little word, dossier, has always been a bit intimidating to me. Is it French? Do I pronounce the “er” on the end or is it an “A”?

Dossier: \ˈdȯs-ˌyā, ˈdäs-; ˈdȯ-sē-ˌā, ˈdä-\
A group of papers that contain detailed information about someone or something.

In this case, info on our family, or “major adoption application package”. It took us about 14 months from the initial start of gathering documents, but with a lapse of a few less productive months, probably ten working months. Of course life happened in between so it wasn’t full steam ahead everyday, but ongoing in phases.

The good news is we found out yesterday that our work wasn’t in vain. It was accepted! I feel like we passed the test. Now we sigh a big sigh of relief and anticipate the next step: receiving a letter from the central office (SDA) telling us when we can get a referral for a child/children.
